Programs for Education and Language-, speech- and Voice therapy.

F-J Electronics offers a wide range of software for patient education, prosody training, speech training through auditory biofeedback, articulatory training, etc..

Blue Tree Publishing has designed software for patient and student education:

Vocal Parts
An ideal program to show what happens in the laryngeal and pharyngeal cavities during phonation and speech.

KayPentax has several excellent programs for speech and voice training and therapy:

Multi-Dimensional Voice Program (MDVP), Model 5105
The Multi-Dimensional Voice Program (MDVP) is the gold standard software tool for quantitative acoustic assessment of voice quality, calculating more than 22 parameters on a single vocalization. Based on extensive field testing with normal and disordered voices, MDVP is unique in its ability to work accurately over a wide range of pathological voices. Its normative references are based on an extensive database of normal and disordered voices; and results are graphically and numerically compared to these normative threshold values. MDVP quickly and easily provides a revealing snapshot of voice quality. The program is an option to Multi-Speech and CSL.

Motor Speech Profile, Model 5141
Motor Speech Profile extracts and analyzes speech parameters relevant to motor disordered speech. MSP provides protocols for eliciting the specific speech sample, extracting the desired parameters, displaying the results of analysis in numeric and graphic formats, and generating a summary report.
Many parameters are needed to characterize motor disordered speech. MSP evokes built-in protocols for different tasks (e.g., syllabic rate, sustained phonation, diadochokinesis, etc.) to extract these separate parameters. For example, distorted vowels are often characterized by neutralized second formant positions and abnormal second formant transitions. MSP sets up tasks to measure and assess this behavior. Similarly, diadochokinetic rate (DDK) and periodicity of DDK have been shown to be closely associated with articulator mobility. MSP complements the speech professional’s well-trained ear by systematically and objectively analyzing many speech parameters. The program is an option to Multi-Speech and CSL.

Visi-Pitch IV, Model 3950
Visi-Pitch IV provides the latest, state-of-the-art, high-fidelity hardware for robust data acquisition and playback, and an additional software module. As a clinical tool, Visi-Pitch IV offers clinicians an unmatched assortment of powerful methods to assess and treat their clients. Since its introduction in 1978, Visi-Pitch has become an indispensable tool in speech clinics worldwide. Its reputation has been earned by highly reliable performance and a versatile set of features. Now with eight standard modules, Visi-Pitch IV can be used with virtually every type of communication disorder in both assessment and therapy tasks.

Sona Speech II, Model 3650
Sona-Speech II is a low-cost software package that is based on the acclaimed Visi-Pitch IV, also from KayPentax. Instead of using the robust hardware platform of Visi-Pitch IV, Sona-Speech II relies on standard sound cards for data acquisition and playback, making it an ideal choice for budget-minded clinicians. Sona-Speech II is used as a therapy tool for a broad range of speech and voice problems. It provides real-time visual feedback of important speech/voice parameters and quantitative measurements to track patient performance. Due to the performance limitations and variability of PC sound cards, Kay recommends Sona-Speech II primarily for routine therapy tasks, rather than for research or rigorous voice lab analysis. Sona-Speech II offers the clinician tremendous versatility, now with eight separate modules designed for assessment and treatment of voice, articulation, fluency, motor speech (dysarthria), and other communication disorders. Graphically interesting games are also provided to make therapy tasks appealing to children. Sona-Speech II brings the sophistication of Kay software found in Visi-Pitch IV to the sound card hardware environment. Clinicians will find Sona-Speech II a tremendous bargain and a powerful addition to their clinical tools.

Games Program, Model 5167
The games, which focus on voicing, timing, pitch level and control, and amplitude control, include ten different graphic environments appropriate for both boys and girls across a broad age range. The games are highly customizable by the clinician. The clinician can actually move the graphic components or change the degree of difficulty of each game by adjusting the threshold of the selected parameter (e.g., pitch range).

Facilitator, Model 3500
A unique clinical tool for auditory feedback with five modes: Speech amplification, looping feedback, delayed auditory feedback, speech noise masking, and metronimic pacing.

Tiger DRS offers reasonably priced software for Speech Therapy and Speech Training:

Speech Training, ver. 3.2
Educational and clinical program with a dual-screen graphic display. Used to compare a teacher's utterance with a client's utterance. Shows microphone signal, pitch, intensity anmd spectrogram.

Speech Therapy, ver. 4.1
More than 30 voice-activated video games designet to train changes in pitch, loudness, voice/unvoiced phonation, voice onset, phonation time and sound tracking. Statistics used for tracking the child´s progress.
